What is Serrapeptase?

Serrapeptase is a proteolytic enzyme with powerful anti-inflammatory properties which actually digests inflammatory tissue. Originally found in microbes in the intestine of the Silk Worm, Serrapeptase is the substance used to make a hole in the cocoon so that the moth may emerge and it is also used it to digest the tough Mulberry Leaves on which it feeds. Today, the Silk Worm is not involved and the Serrapeptase is now processed under clinical conditions.

Serrapeptase digests non-living tissue such as blood clots, cysts, arterial plaques and inflammation in all forms. Used widely throughout Europe and Asia Serrapeptase is a viable clinical alternative to Salicylates, Ibuprofen and prescribed NSAIDs. Unlike these drugs, Serrapeptase is a naturally occurring physiologic agent with no inhibitory effects on prostaglandins and devoid of gastro-intestinal side effects. It is important to note that if consumed in unprotected tablets or capsules, the enzyme is destroyed by stomach acid. However, enterically-coated tablets enable the enzyme to pass through the stomach unchanged, and be absorbed in the intestine.

Serrapeptase reduces the production of the inflammatory reaction within tissue and inhibits the release of inflammatory mediators like histamine. It induces the breakdown of fibrinose tissue and reduces the viscosity of exudates. Serrapeptase breaks these substances down into amino acids which the body then treats as normal waste products. The enzyme quite literally digests the inflammatory tissue.

Throughout the last 40 years, many thousands of people have used Serrapeptase with no serious side effects or any known interaction with prescribed drugs.

Some Uses for Serrapeptase.

Pain Reduction with Serrapeptase: While Serrapeptase reduces inflammation it also reduces pain due to its ability to block the release of pain-inducing amines from the inflamed tissues. In both Europe and Asia medical professionals have recognized the anti-inflammatory and pain-blocking benefits of this naturally occurring substance and are using it instead of NSAIDs.

Post-operative Swelling and Pain: Serrapeptase is a common treatment for inflammatory and traumatic swellings throughout Europe. In one double blind study, patients receiving Serrapeptase after knee surgery had a 50% reduction in swelling and pain compared to the placebo group. By the tenth day post op, their pain had disappeared completely.

Carpal Tunnel: Carpal Tunnel syndrome is a form of musculo-ligamentous strain. Surgery is often an unsatisfactory option and thankfully recent studies reveal that the use of Serrapeptase in conjunction with bromelain (another proteolytic enzyme) and Vitamins B2 and B6 is an effective alternative.

Fibrocystic breast disease: Serrapeptase has been used successfully in the treatment Fibrocystic breast disease. A double blind study demonstrated Serrapeptase to be superior to a placebo for the improvement of breast pain, breast swelling and induration (firmness of the tissue). Approximately 90% of the patients who received Serrapeptase reported moderate to marked improvement with no adverse reactions reported.

Sinusitis: The anti-inflammatory properties of Serrapeptase have proved to be successful in clinical studies to benefit chronic sinusitis sufferers. This condition causes mucous to become congested in nasal passage ways as it is thickened and over secreted. Serrapeptase was found to reduce the viscosity of nasal mucous thus aiding its elimination whilst reducing pain and inflammation.

Ear, Nose and Throat: Clinical trials have showed that Serrapeptase quickly (within 3-4 days) relieves problems associated with ear, nose and throat infection like anosmia (loss of smell), nasal obstruction, laryngitis, difficulty swallowing etc. Studies showed that an amazing 98% of people in the trial had excellent relief. One anecdotal report said that Serrapeptase had ended years of snoring overnight.

Chronic Bronchitis: A study showed excellent results using Serrapeptase compared with the placebo group in the improvement of loosening sputum, frequency of cough and expectoration along with a lessening of post-nasal drip and production of excessive mucous.

Bacterial infection: it has also been demonstrated that using Serrapeptase with an antibiotic results in increased concentrations of the antibiotic at the site of the infection.

Cardiovascular Implications: Deposits of fatty substances, cholesterol, cellular waste products, calcium and a clotting material in the blood called fibrin on the inner lining of the arteries cause the formation of plaque in the arteries. Excessive plaque results in partial or complete blockage of blood flow through the artery causes artherosclerosis and potentially a stroke or heart attack. The renowned Cardiologist, Dr Hans Nieper, used Serrapeptase on patients who were candidates for surgery to remove the plaque from arteries. Nieper's research deomonstrated that the protein dissolving properties of Serrapeptase will gradually break down artherosclerotic plaques.

Serrapeptase In Conclusion:

Serrapeptase simply digests dead and inflamed tissue and it is these two problems that are the cause of many symptoms in the body. The wide range of conditions that respond to Serrapeptase include:
- Rheumatoid and Osteo-arthritis
-Varicose Veins and other circulatory problems
-Pain problems such as arthritis, joints, muscles and even MS
-Lung disease such as emphysema, asthma, bronchitis and bronchiecstasis
-Sinus and other ENT problems
-Post operative healing, lesions and cysts (breast, ovarian etc)
-Arterial plaque, DVT, blood clots, artherosclerosis
-Migraines (vascular)
-Enlarged prostrate
- Ovarian cysts
- Carpal tunnel syndrome
- Snoring
- Irritable Bowel Syndrome
- Fibromyalgia

If you have been taking prescribed anti-inflammatory drugs long term there is a strong possibility that you are already suffering from the side effects. Perhaps you are even having to take other prescribed drugs to keep those side effects at bay! Taking Serrapeptase could protect you against long-term damage caused by the very drugs that are prescribed to remove your symptoms and Serrapeptase could probably alleviate those symptoms more effectively than the prescribed medications.
