Jumex (chemical name Selegiline Hydrochloride) is the brand name for the tablet version of Deprenyl (Selegiline) and is a drug used for the effective symptomatic treatment of early-stage Parkinson’s Disease, depression and senile dementia and is an irreversible and selective MAO-B inhibitor increasing the availability of dopamine.

Decades have passed since it was proved that Deprenyl improves the availability of dopamine. In the brain, Dopamine is one of the most important substances - an essential neurotransmitter that regulates critical functions such as movement, coordination and sex drive. The loss of it frequently causes Depression and ultimately Parkinson’s Disease. Deprenyl slows the decline of dopamine and working as a selective MAO-B inhibitor it protects healthy brain cells from oxidative stress. We tend to lose approximately 13% of our dopamine neurons every decade after the age of 45 and once that total figure reaches 70-80% the deficiency will lead to Parkinson’s Disease.

It has been suggested that if Deprenyl were used from the age 40 onwards, then the average human lifespan might increase by 15 years.

Selegiline hydrochloride (Jumex) enhances the effects of levodopa and, as mentioned above, is used in Parkinson's disease as an adjunct to levodopa therapy, usually when fluctuations in mobility have become a problem. Jumex tablets are usually administered in a daily dose of 10 mg, either as a single dose in the morning or in 2 divided doses of 5 mg at breakfast and lunchtime. The addition of Jumex to levodopa therapy may enable the dosage of levodopa to be reduced. Jumex may also be given alone in early Parkinson's disease in an attempt to slow disease progression. A dose of 10 mg daily has been suggested for this purpose. Doses for anti-aging purposes, which depend on age and condition, are more likely to be 2.5mg to 5mg once, twice or three times a week, or, 1mg to 3mg per day, with regular breaks.

Jumex are sold in packs of 50 x 5mg tablets.
