Stablon is the brand name for the drug Tianeptine (chemically related to amineptine) which is an anti-depressant drug with an anti-anxiety action and an excellent safety profile. It improves the availability of the calming neurotransmitter serotonin. But rather than blocking the uptake of serotonin as with SSRI’s like Prozac® or Paxil®, Stablon increases the uptake of serotonin.

Like most anti-depressants, Stablon could interfere with other anti-depressants, particularly MAO inhibitors like GH3 or SSRI’s. Therefore, combining Stablon with any other anti-depressants must only be done under the guidance of a physician.

Usual dosages are 12.5mg two or three times daily.
